Five Year Plan
 

Demand-Side Norms, Trends and Opportunities projects will focus first on better understanding the region’s water consumption trends, and then on developing strategies to better manage these trends to effect long-term per capita water use reductions. Better understanding the region’s current economic dependencies on water consumption will be a key to the success of these projects.

Supply-Side Opportunities projects will investigate constraints on increasing the basin’s usable water storage, and will optimize the location and water depths of new intakes, independent of jurisdictional boundaries. These projects also will evaluate ways to improve water delivery and consumption efficiency by optimizing water return locations, improving operational flexibility and better aligning water supply sources and returns with service areas.

System-Wide Drought Preparation and Management projects will improve the effectiveness and regional coordination of drought preparation and management. They will improve communications among regional governing bodies and enhance water conservation education for water consumers.
