    Citizens Water Academy

Each year, we offer a Citizens’ Water Academy during the months of January - March. The goal of the Academy is to educate environmental stewards, who understand the importance of planning for a safe and sustainable water future and will advocate for protecting our shared water supply in their communities.

Our River

The Catawba-Wateree River

It's the water source for two million people. It supports a thriving economy where the demand for water is expected to double. It generates enough power for 3.7 million homes. It provides recreation, a diverse ecosystem, and an elevated quality of life to people in a nearly 5,000 square mile region. But our river's water supply is limited. Climate predictability is complicated.

How do we extend our shared water supply and protect the ecological integrity of the waterway into the next century?

At the Catawba-Wateree Water Management Group, we envision a future with a sustainable water source achieved through proactive planning, cutting edge research, and water shortage preparedness.
